Comic artist’s shortcut: Make all of the extras the same and just kind of ignore their faces. When you’re on a deadline, it’s a great timesaver.
Here’s the makings of a battle scene. I know I’ve said this before but I really love doing this comic. It forces me to try things that I ordinarily never would’ve done. I know I have a lot to work on — doing these combat pages are proving that — but I am doing it, and that’s what matters. I’m trying my best with what I’m given.
I kind of like the leader guy even though I made him up on the spur of the moment. Might see more of him in my sketches soon.
Well, first of all, I like the ways you keep paneling varied. Second, the kicking post is well done, but I think you got the size of Lasc’s leg band wrong, when you compare it to his thigh. Unless, of course, the band is meant to be wider than his leg.
Then, there’s the strange eyelessness of the goons. I imagine they all have Blindsense? And the leader looks like an archetypical Fighter/Rogue for some reason. Hmmm, I wonder how many times a week they get their door torn down like that?
@Paul: The eyelessness is an artistic thing, not a literal thing. It’s more to demonstrate that these guys are the cannon fodder and it saves me time I’d otherwise spend drawing eyes and not finishing the comic.
Which band are you talking about with Lasc’s leg?
Oh, I know, I know, I was just teasing you ;P.
Ugh, I don’t know how to describe it. It’s the thing wrapped around his lower leg, and it looks bigger than his thigh. It’s probably a perspective thing, but I just felt I should point out it doesn’t look all that spiffy. Maybe making his lower thigh bigger would help?
Weehehehehehe!~ Am I the only one who’s overly happy about the first cloaker guy in the last panel? Hes the one who has his arms up and mouth open all “IMMA GET CHU!” style while his friends are holding weapons and making “Grrr, get them!” faces!
He is my favorite!~ I shall name him Willie Wimbleton! I L O V E HIM!~ <3
