I’ve tried to hint at Drake having some problems before. Looking back I think I might’ve made a few gaffs in the formative phases of his personality. It’s surprisingly easy to forget where your characters have gone! Details sometimes get overlooked. I have a lot more sympathy now for writers that make sequels and things in the sequel don’t always add up to earlier stories. Anyway, here’s some Drake development and a little bit of K’zink development

I am, however, feeling more confident about art things now. It must be the practice, but certain issues like drawing my people in perspective come a little easier now. K’zink is supposed to be shorter than Qul and Drake and it’s a little easier to portray that. The real test of that part of my ability will be drawing Lasc in proportion with everyone else and still fitting him in the panels! He’s supposed to be a good head or so above the other men. Work takes longer — or has felt like it lately but I think it’s because I haven’t settled into this yet. I’m still in an experimentation stage and I need to calm down. Sometimes I omit a few steps unintentionally but I’m going to get my process down pat one of these days.

This is a recap of what happened at the end of Chapter 2. I’m still working on refining my coloring style and doing it in such a way that I can get it done efficiently and make it look really sharp! I have been getting mixed feedback from my readers and I’ve been considering what everyone says in response. I will continue playing around and it may take all of Issue 3 (and into Issue 4 and beyond) to settle on something I really like but I’ll make it work. Personally I like the direction I’m heading because I feel it makes the characters pop out a little more. I’m going to try and keep practicing though! I have some books that explain certain digital comic coloring techniques and I’m going to study them in more detail.

Also this part is well overdue but one of my readers, Paul, made a TVTropes page for Metamorphosis! If you’re a TVTropes fan, go over and help fill it out! I’m going to hang back because I think you guys will pick the tropes out better than I will.

Finally I’m working on some character design guides for my main five and potentially many of my side characters. Would you all be interested in seeing some design info posted here? It’ll explain a little of what I’m doing and why I picked certain visual aspects for each character. Some folks might find it interesting. Let me know!

Experimented with a new coloring style for this one. It’ll take some getting used to to get it right but generally speaking I like the concept. If time allows I’ll definitely play with this more in the rest of my pages. If it looks clunky to anyone now, it’s because I’m still experimenting to see what works best. Let me know what you think!

UPDATE: Metamorphosis now has two NEW domains registered! You can now reach the site at psmetamorphosis.com or metamorphosis-comic.com! Hopefully these’ll be easier to remember for potential readers!

Here’s the first of this week’s two pages! The next one will be up either tomorrow or Saturday and then the schedule will resume normal course. The trip threw me a little off kilter but I’m getting my groove back!

Also, I may need to require visitors to be logged in to post — or I will have to install a CAPTCHA plugin. The anti-spam I normally use is not working very well lately. I’ve had to clear several spam comments both here and on my sketch blog. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but it’s better than having the comic and blog riddled with spam.

I’m going to work on creating one sketch a day, either of a Metamorphosis character, some roleplaying character of mine, some place, something for a project I’m working on, or all of them at once. If you haven’t gone over there yet, keep an eye on my sketchblog and my deviantART gallery. The sketching rate will come and go depending on things like how much of my thesis I’ve gotten done in a given timeframe. I’ve been slacking and need to pick it up.
